Mode of Action

Ketotifen is a relatively selective, non-competitive histamine antagonist (H1- receptor) and mast cell stabilizer, Ketotifen inhibits the release of mediators from cells involved in hypersensitivity reactions. Decreased chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils has also been demonstrated.

– Prevention and treatment of allergic rhinitis and of
– Allergic skin reaction.
– Long-term prophylaxis of bronchial asthma.
– Dermatitis
– Conjunctivitis
– Urticaria
– Food allergy


Contraindications:Ketotifen is contraindicated in persons with a known hypersensitivity to ketotifen.

Dosage: Tabs: 1-2 mg twice daily necessary, the daily dose may increased upto 4 mg. Syp: Children over 3 years: 1 mg (5 ml Syp) twice daily.
