Canesten

Active Ingredients
Canesten® contains the original active ingredients Clotrimazole developed by BAYER. Clotrimazole was introduced in the market in 1973 and its effectiveness could not be reached by any other active ingredients.

More than 25 years of clinical experience have made Canesten® what it is today : an effective, well tolerated, and safe drug product for fungal infections.

How does Clotrimazole work?
Clotrimazole will absorb to the skin, inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol (an essential component of fungal cell membranes).
When this important building block is missing, the cell membrane is damaged, cell contents leak and thus lead to the fungus destructions.
Clotrimazole has a perfect point of attack with all fungi that are able to cause skin infections in humans. Today, Clotrimazole is the best known active ingredient in topical antifungal therapy.
